Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Friday expressed dismay over timing of PSC exams, saying the measure has had the appearing candidates at the receiving end.

This was, according to the NC spokesperson, stated by the party’s Provincial Spokesperson Ifra Jan. She said the exams were deferred in the late evening on 9th march due to the ongoing court case. “It could have been done earlier also but wasn’t,” she said.

As evident from the notice, Ifra said the exam wasn’t rescheduled rather deferred, “As a consequence the candidates started preparing for other exams, many of them joined back their offices. Those who were staying in hotels had to go back home. All the candidates have suffered,” she added.

To utter surprise and dismay of the candidates, Ifra said only 6 days’ notice has been served to candidates, “Exam being conducted in the month of Ramzan that too from 3-6 pm i.e just before the Iftaar at the time when the candidates would be almost left with no energy. (Ramadan is an essential practice in Islam) and almost half of the candidates being Muslims if not the majority would be at loss,” she noted.

Candidates, she rued, would certainly suffer. “There is no justification for such urgency and thus the announcement of new dates tilts towards malafide,” she said adding that the exams must be rescheduled as per the convenience of the appearing students.
