Srinagar: The monthly radio talk show of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is being widely appreciated by the people of the UT of J&K who have found a major platform in “Awaam ki Awaaz” for registering their grievances and suggestions, reads a communiqué issued by DIPR-JK.

“Many people especially youth of J&K are voicing their suggestions through the programme and those ultimately find their mention in LG Sinha’s ‘Awaam Ki Awaaz’,” the communiqué said.

“Amir Basher Wani, hailing from Ganderbal is among hundreds of youth, whose suggestions were acknowledged by the Lieutenant Governor in this month’s programme,” it said.

Referring to Amir Basher Wani’s letter on the state of horticulture graduates, the Lt Governor asserted that regardless of the legacy of the logjams that the present dispensation has inherited, “we are committed to the overall development of the sector and fast and transparent recruitment drives.”

Amir who holds doctorate degree in Horticulture has expressed gratitude to Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha for acknowledging his suggestion related to revamping the ecosystem of horticulture.

Amir says that there is a vast gap of technical knowhow between the lab and the land with regard to Horticulture sector and the technical human resource from the twin universities of SKUAST can be utilised to bridge the gap.

He said it is otherwise impossible for the department to bridge that gap as there is already conversion of traditional fruit growing land to new improved production technology. He said that this conversion can only be made successful with the involvement of technical staff for fruitful results.

He also said that a huge number of people are directly and indirectly involved and linked to and depending on the Horticulture sector and the same should be provided with the technical expertise for better returns.

Amir also lavished praise for the monthly programme started by the LG and said that such platform encourages citizens to contribute towards nation building in one or other way.

He said that through the radio programme, people voice their valuable insights regarding different fields which inturn are being utilised by the government for drafting development policies as per the needs of the people, thus making the governance process more inclusive and people-centric.

He said that it makes good sense to take feedback and suggestions from the common people for whom the various programmes and policies of the government are meant.
