Students were demanding hanging of killers of Kuthua’s eight-year-old girl.

As police tried to disperse the protesting students, clashes erupted and sources said that three girl students fainted during clashes.

Eyewitnesses told Kashmir Images that the three students were shifted to Aga Syed Yousuf Memorial District Hospital for treatment.

Hospital sources said that the students had probably fainted after inhaling smoke of tear gas canisters, fired by government forces.

Earlier, seeking justice for Kuthua’s eight-year-old slain girl, scores of people assembled here on Wednesday and held a protest march demanding demand death penalty for the killers.

While marching through the main chowk of Budgam town, protesters displayed placards depicting pictures of the slain girl.

Denouncing the rape and murder of the minor girl, demonstrators sought stern action against the supporters of accused.

“The supporters of the killers have no fear of judiciary as they are publicly holding rallies in support of the perpetrators,” clamored the protesters.

Earlier on Tuesday night, dozens of Budgam residents held a candlelight vigil to express solidarity with the nomadic Bakerwal community of Kuthua.
