JAMMU: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, asked the officers of Jammu Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB) to expedite the compensation cases of construction and other workers for timely disposal.

Advisor issued these instructions to the officers while chairing a review meeting of JKBOCWWB held to take stock of status of financial assistance cases.

The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer, JKBOCWWB, Peer Muzafar and other officers of the Board.

It was informed that the process for digitization of services of the Board has been set in motion and will be completed soon thus enabling the construction workers to have in hand account of all the issues related to their registration, assistance, renewal and all the facilities thereof.

Advisor had detailed discussion regarding developing a mobile application for the services rendered by the Board to facilitate the construction workers and make registration and other related activities easy and accessible. He directed the CEO to check the feasibility in this regard and its usefulness for the construction workers.

Meanwhile, 40 cases of Death cum Funeral Assistance amounting Rs. 50 Lakh were sanctioned during the meeting which will be credited soon in the account of the beneficiaries through DBT mode.

It was also given out in the meeting that during 2020-21 an amount of Rs. 162 crore has been disbursed among the beneficiaries upto ending January 2021 under various welfare schemes which included relief in the shape of Rs 1000/- per month for four months during Covid-19 pandemic.
