GM’s are bridge between govt and entrepreneurs: Baseer Khan

SRINAGAR: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Khan, today convened a review meeting regarding functioning of Industries and Commerce Department.

The meeting held detailed deliberations on several issues concerning the working of the department like land overtaking, status of MSME units and clearance of pending MSME units at SKICC, Srinagar.

Director, Industries & Commerce, Nazim Zia Khan and District General Managers (GMs) of Kashmir division besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.

Director I&C gave a detailed presentation regarding land bank, new industrial estates, recent land acquisition, land to be overtaken, Udyam registrations, PM Employment Generation Programme and achievements, formal registrations under MSME sector, incentives under Centre and UT packages besides issues related to KPDCL.

While describing GMs as bridge between the UT government and entrepreneurs, Advisor Baseer Khan emphasized upon them to facilitate entrepreneurs in clearance of registration of units at the earliest.

Advisor asked the officers to conduct regular visits to the fields and improve work culture to evaluate status of works on weekly basis. He cautioned the officers against any laxity in their approach towards their duties.

Meanwhile, Advisor directed the officers to conceptualize a comprehensive plan for establishment of one district one product. He said slew of initiatives are in pipeline to showcase and procure products besides transportation and marketing. He emphasized speedy completion of all works on the lands that had been identified and overtaken by the department and expedite the process of land to be overtaken. He instructed the officers to visit units to evaluate viability and check that saturation should not happen at any industrial estate which may affect other units. He impressed upon the officers to complete the registration of pending units as the UT government has undone the previous NOC rules.

Advisor was informed that the total land transferred to the department was 6414 kanal 8 marla and the land taken over is 6078 kanal besides margin money  disbursed under PM Employment Generation Programme during 20-21 ending January was 2490 Lakh.
