Distt Admin Ganderbal reaches out to poor family at Gutlibagh

GANDERBAL: Days after the video regarding the poor living conditions of three sisters from Gutlibagh Ganderbal went viral on Social Media, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today visited the family to assess the situation and assistance needed for the poor family.

On the occasion, the DC interacted with the family members who apprised him of various issues faced by them.

The family was provided assistance by the Red Cross and the concerned officials were further directed by DC to provide immediate assistance to the family as per their requirement.

The DC assured all possible support to the family and exhorted upon the local committee members to take care of the family. He also asked them to constitute a committee officially that shall look into the funds raised on voluntary basis so that the same are used for the welfare of the family.

The Social Welfare department was directed to provide Pre-Matric scholarship to the children.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba, ACR, Tehsildar Ganderbal and others accompanied the DC.

Meanwhile, Mission Director, Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS), Shabnam Shah Kamili also visited the aggrieved sisters at Gutli Bagh.

Kamili in coordination with the District Administration issued instructions for immediate rehabilitation of these children who were found in need of care and protection.

Consequently, CWC Ganderbal issued on the spot order for providing institutional care to the children and the children were accordingly shifted to SOS facility at Srinagar.

The locals present on the spot hailed the response of the Government and supported the decision taken by Child Protection Services, J&K.

The Mission Director said that all measures regarding wellbeing and rehabilitation of the children are being taken by the Child Protection Services.

She also made a public appeal to stop any donations in the name of these children as enough funds have been raised for the purpose.

ADC Ganderbal, Basser Ahmad and DCPO Ganderbal, Akeel also provided all kinds of support for the rehabilitation of the children.
