DIPR organizes cultural event on ‘World Disability Day’

SRINAGAR: The Cultural Unit of Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) today organized a cultural programme cum Art competition on ‘World Disability Day’ in collaboration with White Globe (Behavioural Educational Assessment and Training Centre) here.

SSP Security, Nighat Aman, Deputy Mayor Parvez Qadri, Cultural Officer Kashmir, Riyaz Fazili and Parents Co-Association President Ghulam Mohammad war were among others present at the event.

During the program, theme based cultural events were presented by the renowned artists. The artists through their dramas and plays urged everyone to encourage and respect the struggles of those with disabilities and emphasized upon them the importance of providing specially-abled with equal opportunities.

On the occasion, several children with special needs and other speakers also spoke and called attention to their struggles and commitment to meaningful life and the need for provision of equal opportunities to them.

Experts and the Rehabilitation Officers of the White Globe also addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of the day.

Meanwhile an Art competition was also organised during the event in which over 60  children and 25 special  children suffering from Downs syndrome, Autism etc participated. The winners of the competition were honoured with trophies and appreciation certificates.
