Srinagar : While urging the Jammu and Kashmir administration to fulfill the genuine demands of Kashmiri Pandit community living in the valley, CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami Tuesday assured his full support to the community in their fight to achieve their rights.

The Kashmir Pandit Sangharsh Samiti (KPSS), the Valley’s largest Kashmiri Pandit group, has said it is being harassed and isolated by J&K administration since the abrogation of Article 370 last August which is unfortunate. The body’s president Sanjay Tickoo has decided to go on a fast-unto-death until its demands are met, Tarigami said in a statement issued today.

He said that the KPSS is demanding jobs under the central government employment package for the community living in the valley apart from relief and accommodation to non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits.

“Those Kashmiri Pandits, who did not migrate from the valley in 1990, have been totally ignored by the successive regimes and their genuine demands were never fulfilled. High Court directions and recommendations of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) regarding jobs to be provided to the unemployed educated Kashmiri Pandit youths living in the valley must be implemented without any further delay,” said Tarigami.

The other demands include a smooth process of providing bonafide certificates to all the aspirants of non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits and monthly financial aid to 808 such families living in Kashmir since 1990, grant of accommodation to all deserving non-migrant KP families living in the valley as per recommendations of the MHA and extension of benefits of migrant welfare fund to the non-migrant KPs of Kashmir, said Tarigami.

He further said that the KPSS has made other demands, which include a vigilance inquiry against officials for allegedly stalling relief of non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits, and extension of benefits of Migrant Welfare Fund to the Non-Migrant Kashmiri Pandits living in Kashmir Valley.

“CPI (M) supports the genuine demands and struggle of Kashmiri Pandits and assures its full support to them,” said Tarigami.
