Jan Abiyaan: Secretary DDMR&R inaugurates awareness program on Nasha Mukt Bharat at Kulgam

KULGAM : An awareness program on “Sensitization on promoting healthy life style, media campaign and awareness on suicide risk among addicts” was today organized under Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign here by Social welfare Department Kulgam in collaboration with the district administration.

The programme was inaugurated by Secretary Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation and Reconstructions, Simrandeep Singh along with Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat.

Experts from Judiciary, Social Welfare, Health, Education, Police, volunteers and students participated in the programme and  also discussed various causes behind drug addiction, its effects, drug trafficking and remedies to put an end to the menace of drugs.

The program was also attended by senior civil and police functionaries of district administration and DDMR&R.

Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary DDMR&R said that it is collective responsibility of every member of the society to work proactively for elimination of drug menace.

The Deputy Commissioner applauded the organizers for holding the awareness event and said that such programs need to be conducted in all areas.

He also highlighted the objectives of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and said that ‘we all have to work collectively for elimination of drug menace in the district.’

Later, Secretary along with the DC inaugurated drug de-addiction complex.

Prosthetic aids and old age pension orders were also distributed among various beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the Secretary DMRR&R visited Vessu migrant colony Kulgam and inspected the pace of progress on under execution development works. He also took stock of the facilities available in these camps for the inmates.

Deputy Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz, Director Finance DMRR&R, Zahoor Ahmad and other concerned officers accompanied him.

After taking stock of facilities being provided to the migrants and status of the development works, the secretary interacted with the migrants residing in the camps and listened to their grievances and demands. The Secretary   assured   early redress of the issues projected by the residents of the migrant colony.
