BJP’s decision to exit J&K govt aimed at mobilizing Hindu sentiments: CPI(M)
FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Srinagar: While terming the decision to restore 4G internet services in two districts of Jammu and Kashmir after more than a year a cruel joke, CPI (M) Monday said the BJP government’s Digital India started with much fanfare has come crashing down in the region.

In a statement issued here, CPI(M) said:  “From the Supreme Court to the former Lt Governor of J&K everybody spoke about the need to restore 4G internet services in Jammu and Kashmir. But restoring it in the two districts on a trial basis is a joke. Is it any favour to the people of Jammu and Kashmir?”

“The curbs on 4G internet in J&K continue at a time when the Prime Minister envisioned transforming the nation and creating opportunities for all citizens by harnessing digital technologies through the Digital India initiative. However, Modi’s Digital India has come down crashing in J&K due to the gag on Internet speed,” reads the statement.

“From ramparts of the Red Fort in New Delhi on August 15, the Prime Minister gave a fresh push to his Digital India programme. However, more than 900 km away, Modi’s claim of empowering the common man with the internet and transforming India into a digitally powerful society has come crashing down,” it said.

“It is high time that 4G internet services are restored throughout J&K without any further delay. People, especially students, businessmen, doctors and other professionals are suffering immensely due to the slow internet speed,” it added.
