Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary in a tweet said Narwara area of Srinagar has been declared as Red-Zone. The total number of Red-Zones in Kashmir division reached 106 with Srinagar topping the list with 23.

“Covid fight belongs to citizens, Alert, response and truthful. Flagged by neighbors a resident arriving clandestinely, picked up promptly, tested positive. Let’s not rush rather follow protocols. Narwara now Red Zone,” DC Srinagar tweeted.

The person who was tested positive sources said had concealed his travel history. Sources said the fact came to fore after neighbors of the COVID-19 positive informed the authorities about him and he was immediately kept in quarantine four days ago.

Sources said the swab test of the affected person was taken two days ago which turned out to be positive on Friday following which he was shifted to the hospital. Meanwhile authorities have sealed Narwara and blocked all entry and exit points of the affected area as a containment measure under disaster management act.

Meanwhile 8 contacts of deceased Rainawari women have been tested positive for coronavirus while one more positive case has been detected from Solina area of the city.

A nursing orderly who works at LD Hospital has also been tested positive for COVID-19 at CD hospital here last evening. Originally hailing from Jammu, the affected person was putting up at a private hostel in Solina area.  At least ten of his colleagues and contacts have been sent to 14 days quarantine.

Meanwhile Mayor of Srinagar city, Junaid Azim Mattu said all new positive cases in Rainawari are contact cases of elderly patient who passed away a few days back.

“A sudden spurt in cases-all new positive cases in Rainawari area contact cases of elderly patient who passed away a few days back. Another case in Narwara has come in clandestinely and not disclosed his arrival. TRAGIC!, SMC focusing on Narwara, Rainwari, Bemina, Solina today,” Mattu wrote on tweeter.
