Yesterday there was a brief exchange of fire at Waderbala, Handwara and forces continued combing operation in the area. Today a fresh contact was established at Chanjimullah, nearly 3 kms from Waderbala at around 3 pm,” a security official said, adding the operation is still underway and will be put on hold for night due to inclement weather.

Earlier reports suggested that two militants were killed in the gunfight and a trooper was injured. However, there was no official confirmation.
