COVID-19 lock-down: DM Ganderbal takes appraisal of situation

GANDERBAL: District Magistrate(DM), Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today inspected several locations of the district including Safapora, Kundbal, Gratbal, Manabal and Waskura to review the implementation of  advisories pertaining to pandemic COVID-19, besides to take first hand appraisal of availability of essential commodities like food grains, vegetables, LPG  and other essentials.

SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal and ADM, Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba accompanied the District Magistrate.

The DM took an appraisal of the situation and directed for the implementation of all the requisite advisories especially observing the lockdown and to avoid any gathering to mitigate the risk of infection.

While visiting to Waskura, a Red zone notified area, the DM took stock of availability of ration at the store where process of advance two-month ration distribution was going on and urged the concerned to ensure social distancing is maintained. He also urged the people of Waskura adhere to the guidelines with letter and spirit.

People of Waskura also raised several issues being faced after the area was notified as Red zone including availability of vegetables, milk  and ambulance in case of any medical emergency in the area.

The DM directed the nominated administrator for Red Zone to ensure home delivery of all essential commodities in the area besides BMO concerned was directed to keep one ambulance at the disposal of the locals.

Meanwhile, DC also inspected the PHC Safapora and took stock of various health care facilities there emphasizing the authorities to keep masks and sanitizers available at the PHC. He also exhorted for providing all the health services to the patients keeping in view prescribed norms and regulations with respect to COVID-19.

The DM exhorted the concerned officials and field functionaries to identify the persons or households in urgent need of essentials so that district administration takes appropriate measures.
