The meeting reviewed the progress of key health programmes, including Maternal and Child Health, Routine Immunisation, Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK), Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA), Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) and the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases.

The functioning of ambulance services, blood banks, dialysis facilities and critical care services was also reviewed, along with infrastructure projects under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) and the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) programme at GMC Anantnag.

The Mission Director assessed the district’s performance on institutional deliveries, antenatal care, tracking of high-risk pregnancies, immunisation coverage and screening for non-communicable diseases. The availability of referral services and essential healthcare facilities was also discussed.

Khan stressed the need to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries were covered under various health schemes and directed the concerned officers to improve service delivery, maintain 100 per cent data reporting and ensure timely utilisation of allocated funds.

He called for strengthening maternal and child healthcare services and ensuring the availability of essential medicines, diagnostic facilities and adequate manpower at health institutions. He also directed officials to improve referral mechanisms and expedite ongoing infrastructure works under PM-ABHIM.

Emphasising accountability and effective monitoring, he called for better coordination among healthcare institutions to ensure that the benefits of government health programmes reached all eligible beneficiaries.

Later, the Mission Director visited the Associated Hospital of GMC Anantnag and Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Achabal, where he inspected various departments and took stock of the facilities available to patients.

During the inspections, he interacted with doctors, hospital staff and patients and reviewed the availability of medical equipment, medicines, manpower and patient care services.

The visit was aimed at assessing the implementation of NHM programmes at the institutional level and identifying areas requiring improvement in healthcare delivery across the district.
