Srinagar: Boulevard Road will remain closed to general traffic from 7 am on Thursday for the Jammu and Kashmir Police Cycle Race-2026, “Pedal Through Paradise”, with Traffic Police Srinagar announcing diversions and special arrangements to facilitate students appearing in examinations.
According to a traffic advisory, restrictions will cover the stretches from Lalit Ghat to Harwan via Shalimar and from Lalit Ghat to Pandach. The restrictions will remain in force until the conclusion of the event.
The race will follow two routes: Lalit Ghat (Police Golf Course) to Nagbal Chowk via Foreshore Road, and Lalit Ghat to Harwan via Shalimar.
Motorists travelling from Harwan and New Theed towards other parts of the city have been advised to use the Burzahama–Chandpora–Tailbal–Zakoora–Malbagh–Illahibagh–90 Feet Road route, and vice versa. Vehicles travelling from Ganderbal and Nagbal towards Lal Chowk have been advised to take the 90 Feet Soura Road.
Traffic will not be allowed from R.M. Bagh Crossing towards Lalit, except for race participants. Restrictions will also apply to traffic from Badyari towards Lalit Crossing, from Dalgate to Nishat via Badyari, and from Nishat towards Lal Chowk.
The traffic police has urged people to avoid unnecessary movement on the affected stretches, particularly from 5 am until the race concludes.
Vehicles carrying patients in medical emergencies and those heading to Srinagar Airport will be allowed to travel via the Foreshore–Dargah–Khanyar road.
In a separate appeal, Traffic Police Srinagar said students facing difficulties reaching their examination centres due to the event could contact the nearest traffic police personnel or call the toll-free number 103 for assistance. Students have been advised to carry valid admit cards, and the public has been urged to circulate the message widely.
