SRINAGAR: Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to intervene for the safe and early return of Kashmiri Umrah pilgrims stranded in Saudi Arabia following the cancellation of their return flights.
In a statement, Bukhari expressed concern over the difficulties faced by the pilgrims, who had travelled to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.
He said their prolonged stay had left many facing uncertainty and financial hardship, with reports suggesting that some were struggling to meet expenses for accommodation, food and essential medicines.
Bukhari urged the Union government to take immediate steps to facilitate their return and provide necessary assistance until travel arrangements were made.
He said the stranded pilgrims required timely support and appealed to the authorities to ensure that they were brought back home safely at the earliest.
