SRINAGAR: Vehicular traffic on the Uri-Baramulla highway was restored on Sunday after remaining suspended for five days following a landslide at Rajerwani, officials said.
The highway was blocked on October 14 after heavy rainfall triggered the movement of massive boulders and debris, bringing traffic to a halt on the vital road link.
The landslide also damaged power infrastructure, disrupting electricity supply in the area. Officials said the power supply was restored on Saturday evening after repair work.
During the closure, traffic was diverted through the Gingle-Paranpillan-Dachi road to maintain connectivity with Uri.
The reopening of the highway brought relief to residents and commuters who had faced difficulties due to the prolonged disruption.
