Srinagar: Higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir are likely to receive light snowfall on October 10 and again on October 13 and 14, while several areas may experience rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar forecast on Friday.
The weather is expected to remain cloudy on October 10, with light rain at scattered to many places and light snowfall over higher reaches. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are also likely, according to the forecast.
Weather is likely to remain generally dry on October 11 and 12. Light rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds may occur at many places on October 13 and 14, while October 15 is expected to remain mostly dry, with brief spells of light rain possible at a few places.
The department has forecast generally dry weather from October 16 to 18.
In view of the possibility of thunderstorms and gusty winds, the Meteorological Centre has advised farmers to continue harvesting and ensure the safe storage of harvested apples and paddy.
Meanwhile, maximum temperatures in several parts of Kashmir remained above normal.
Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 28.2 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal, while the minimum settled at 9.3 degrees Celsius, 1.8 degrees above normal.
Qazigund recorded a maximum of 27 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal, while Pahalgam registered 23.6 degrees Celsius, 2.5 degrees above normal. Kupwara recorded 27.7 degrees Celsius, 2.8 degrees above normal, and Gulmarg registered 19 degrees Celsius, 3.9 degrees above normal.
In Jammu division, Jammu recorded a maximum temperature of 31.5 degrees Celsius, while Katra and Kathua registered 29 degrees and 31.4 degrees Celsius, respectively. Batote recorded 25.1 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 26.5 degrees Celsius.
Reasi recorded the highest rainfall at 28.5 mm, followed by Katra at 20.8 mm and Jammu at 18.6 mm, according to the department.
