Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Home Department has ordered the transfer and posting of 100 Indian Police Service (IPS) and Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS) officers, reshuffling police leadership across Kashmir and Jammu divisions, including several district-level and specialised assignments.
Government Order No. 499-Home of 2026, dated October 9, was issued with immediate effect. The changes cover senior superintendents of police (SSPs), deputy inspectors general (DIGs), additional SPs, commandants and officers serving in the Crime Investigation Department (CID), traffic police, security wings, railway police and armed police battalions.
Among the key changes in Kashmir, IPS officer Neha Jain has been posted as SSP Sopore, replacing Iftkhar Talib. Sudhanshu Dhama has been shifted from SSP Ganderbal to SSP Kupwara, while Harshal Rajesh Mahajan has been appointed SSP Ganderbal, replacing Dhama. Tahir Saleem Khan has been posted as SSP Bandipora, replacing Ajaz Ahmed Zargar, who has been moved to A CID Headquarters.
Sajad Khaliq Bhat has been posted as SSP Handwara, replacing Tahir Saleem Khan, while Irshad Hussain Rather has been appointed SSP Awantipora, replacing Sajjad Ahmad Shah. Shah has been assigned command of the 17th Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP) IR battalion. Abdul Maajid Magray has been posted as Additional SP Shopian, replacing Rameez Rashid Bhat, who has been assigned command of the 23rd JKAP IR battalion.
In Srinagar, IPS officer K M Priyanka has been posted as SSP Traffic National Highway, replacing Raja Adil Hamid Ganaie, who has been assigned command of the 13th JKAP battalion. Bisma Qazi has been shifted from SSP Technical CID Headquarters to SSP Traffic City Srinagar, replacing Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, who has been posted as Commandant of the 23rd JKAP IR battalion.
Musadiq Majid Basu has been posted as SP East Srinagar, replacing Neha Jain, while Mashkoor Ahmed Zargar has been appointed SP South Srinagar, replacing Shabir Ahmad Khan. Naeem Ahmad Wani has been posted as SP Hazratbal, replacing Hilal Khaliq Bhat, who has been assigned as Deputy Commandant of the 8th JKAP IR battalion.
Shah Umar has been posted as Additional SP PCR Srinagar, replacing Naeem Ahmad Wani, while Gh. Mustafa Bhat has been appointed SP Headquarters Srinagar, replacing Shah Umar. Zahoor Ahmed Wani has been posted as SP Police Training and Welfare School Srinagar against an available vacancy, while Ayaz Ahmad Sheikh has been assigned as SP Security Civil Secretariat, replacing Mohd Yousuf.
At the senior IPS level, Danesh Rana has been appointed Managing Director of the J&K Police Housing Corporation, relieving S.J.M. Gillani of the additional charge. Garib Dass has been posted as Additional Director General of Police, Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF, while Dr Mohd Haseeb Mughal has been appointed Director of the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur, replacing Garib Dass.
Abdul Jabbar has been posted as Inspector General of Police, Armed Police, Jammu, against an available vacancy. Shahid Mehraj Rather has been appointed IG Technical Services, J&K, and will continue to hold the additional charge of Director Police Telecommunications until further orders. Rayees Mohammad Bhat has been shifted from DIG CID Kashmir to DIG CID Headquarters, J&K.
Shiv Kumar Sharma has been posted as DIG Railways, replacing Zahid Naseem Manhas, who has been assigned as DIG Armed Police Jammu. Swarn Singh Kotwal has been shifted from Director Special Security Force, J&K, to DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, while IPS officer Aijaz Ahmad Bhat has been posted as Commandant of the 23rd JKAP IR battalion.
Mohd Yaseen Kichloo has been appointed Principal of the State Training Centre, Talwara, while Sanjay Kumar Kotwal has been posted as Commandant of the 18th JKAP IR battalion, replacing Raj Singh Gouria. Hareesh H.P. has been posted as Director Special Security Force, replacing Swarn Singh Kotwal, while Vishnu Kumar has been appointed SSP Technical CID Headquarters, replacing Bisma Qazi.
Among the other IPS officers, Arshi Aadil has been posted as Commandant of the 1st JKAP Women battalion, Tikam Singh Verma as Commandant of the 16th JKAP IR battalion, and Kamal Pal Singh Malhotra as SSP Administration Wing JK4C, replacing Mohd Yaseen Kichloo. Vaibhav Meena has been appointed SSP Poonch, replacing Shafket Hussain, while Anna Sinha has been posted as SSP Ramban in place of Arun Gupta.
Rajeev Kumar Ambasta has been assigned command of the 3rd JKAP Security battalion, while Deepak Yadav has been posted as SP Operations JK4C. Anand Kumar Mishra has been appointed SSP Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), J&K, replacing Mohd Anwar-ul-Haq. Satish Kumar has been posted as SSP Railways Jammu, replacing Shailender Singh.
Among JKPS officers, Imtiyaz Hussain Mir has been posted as Director, CTC Lethpora, while Shailender Singh has been appointed Director Civil Defence and SDRF Kashmir in place of Mir. Shoket Hussain has been posted as AIG Welfare at Police Headquarters, replacing Hareesh H.P., while Wasim Qadri has been appointed SSP Security Kashmir, replacing Sajad Khaliq Bhat.
Rohit Baskotra has been posted as AIG Personnel at Police Headquarters, while Arun Gupta has been shifted from SSP Ramban to SSP SS CID Headquarters, replacing Musadiq Majid Basu. Mohd Yousuf has been posted as SSP Railways Kashmir, replacing Wasim Qadri. Khalil Ahmad Poswal has been appointed SSP Headquarters CID, replacing Girdhari Lal, who has been posted as Commandant of the 8th JKAP battalion.
Ramesh Chander Kotwal has been posted as SSP Railways Katra, replacing Sanjay Kumar Kotwal, while Sukhdev Raj has been assigned command of the 12th JKAP IR battalion, replacing Khalil Ahmad Poswal. Mohd Shafiq has been appointed Additional SP Kishtwar, replacing Pardeep Singh, while Mohd Shafi Sheikh has been assigned as Deputy Commandant of the 4th JKAP IR battalion. Bikram Kumar has been posted as Vice-Principal of PTTI Vijaypur, while Garu Ram has been assigned as Deputy Commandant of the 1st JKAP Border battalion.
Shivender Singh Jamwal has been appointed Additional SP Udhampur, replacing Sandeep Bhat, while Nikhil Rasgotra has been posted as Additional SP Nowshera, replacing Baljit Singh. Mubashir Rasool has been appointed SSP Enforcement, replacing Dr S.D. Choudhary, while Tariq Mehmood has been assigned as Deputy Commandant of the 2nd JKAP Women battalion.
Raies Ahmed Mir has been posted as Deputy Commandant of the 9th JKAP IR battalion, while Sajad Sarwer has been appointed Additional SP CID CI Jammu, replacing Nikhil Rasgotra. Vaseem Mehmood has been posted as Additional SP Rajouri, replacing Bikram Kumar, while Suresh Kumar Sharma has been appointed Additional SP SB CID Jammu, replacing Raj Paul Singh.
Hamid Ali Banday has been appointed Additional SP Operations Poonch, replacing Dr Ajay Sharma, while Mir Burhan-ul-Haq Kanth has been posted as Deputy Commandant of the 12th JKAP Security battalion, replacing Tariq Mehmood. Nissar Ahmad Darzi has been appointed Additional SP Ganderbal, replacing Owaise Rashid, while Varun Jandial has been posted as SP South Jammu, replacing Vaibhav Meena.
