BARAMULLA: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a man and recovered around 100 kg of stolen copper sheets in connection with a theft case registered at Police Station Kreeri, officials said on Friday.
Police said the case was registered on a complaint by Tariq Ahmad Zargar, a resident of Kreeri, who reported the theft of approximately 100 kg of copper sheets from his residential premises during the intervening night of October 7 and 8.
During the investigation, police collected and analysed technical and human intelligence, which led to the identification of suspects. The accused, Muzamil Ahmad Gojree, son of Gh. Mohammad Gojree and a resident of Tilgam Bala, allegedly disclosed his involvement during questioning, police said.
According to the police, the accused allegedly arrived at the complainant’s premises on a scooty, took away two jute bags containing around 50 kg of copper sheets each and transported them on the vehicle before hiding them in an orchard beneath a heap of wooden logs.
Acting on the disclosure, a police team searched the identified location and recovered the stolen copper sheets, which have been taken into possession as case property in accordance with legal procedure.
