ANANTNAG: A carpenter was killed and another person injured after they fell from the rooftop of a mosque while carrying out repair work in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday.
Officials said the incident occurred at Hamam Masjid in Bijbehara when the two men were working on the rooftop and allegedly slipped, resulting in a fall that left both of them critically injured.
The injured were immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for treatment. However, one of them succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The deceased was identified as Javaid Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan, a resident of Hassanpora, Bijbehara. The injured has been identified as Shab-ul-Islam Ganai, son of Mohammad Jamaal Ganai, also a resident of Hassanpora.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident.
