ANANTNAG: Police on Friday arrested two alleged drug peddlers in separate naka-checking operations in Anantnag district and recovered charas-like substances from their possession, officials said.
According to police, a team from Police Post Sherbagh intercepted Danish Ahmad Shah, son of Abdul Rahim Shah and a resident of Khanawari, Mattan, at Sarnal Chowk. During a search, police claimed to have recovered 1.38 kg of charas-like substance in powder form from his possession.
In a separate operation, a naka party from Police Post General Bus Stand apprehended Mehraj Iqbal Bhat, son of Mohammad Iqbal Bhat and a resident of Khanabal, at Tarbal Chee Bridge. Police said 7.25 grams of charas-like substance was recovered during his personal search.
Cases under relevant provisions of law have been registered at the concerned police stations and further investigation has been taken up, officials said.
