Srinagar: Several delegations and individuals met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday and discussed issues related to development, youth empowerment and social initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir.
A delegation of prominent citizens from different parts of the country and abroad, under the banner of the Gandhi Global Family, called on the Lieutenant Governor and discussed the promotion of Gandhian values and initiatives related to health, education, employment and peace.
The delegation included Padma Bhushan awardee Rajeev Sethi, Padma Shri awardee Dr S.P. Varma, President of Gandhi Global Family J&K, Lt Gen R.K. Sharma (Retd), Arvind Mattoo, founder of KoshurRAAG, Kusam Kaul Vyas, Dr Mehjabeen Nabi, Umi Kulsum Gulzar and Prabhu Sahu.
According to an official statement, the delegation also appreciated the administration’s Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir campaign and its efforts to address substance abuse in the Union Territory.
In a separate meeting, former Member of Legislative Council Vikramaditya Singh called on the Lieutenant Governor.
Meanwhile, Mohd Iqbal Ahangar, chairman of the Coordination Committee J&K, also met Sinha and raised various issues concerning development and youth empowerment. He was accompanied by former Municipal Committee Ashmuqam chairman Sofi Arafat, the statement said.
