SRINAGAR: National Conference MLA Salman Sagar on Friday moved a resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly seeking the denotification of the Phaak area and Rural Block Harwan from the Srinagar Master Plan.
The resolution proposes that the two areas be excluded from the master plan framework and brought under the purview of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development laws.
According to the text of the resolution, Sagar has sought to limit the jurisdiction of the Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) in the area and withdraw what he described as urban planning restrictions affecting residents of the predominantly rural localities.
The resolution states that denotification would allow regulation of the areas under the applicable rural governance framework instead of urban planning provisions.
The matter is scheduled to be taken up for discussion later during the ongoing session of the Legislative Assembly.
