In the beautiful valleys of Kashmir, surrounded by apple orchards, mustard fields and small villages, there is a college that gives more than just books and degrees. Its name is Government Degree College, Thindim Kreeri. It is a new college, but its dreams are very big.
People say college only gives a degree, but GDC Thindim Kreeri has proved them wrong. It gives us confidence, courage and a new identity.
A College at Our Doorstep – A Dream Come True:
Think about a student, especially a girl from villages like Kreeri, Wagoora, Mangam, Kalantra, and Saloosa. Earlier, for graduation she had to travel to Baramulla, Sopore or Srinagar. For a poor family, bus fare every day, safety concern and time was a big problem. Because of this, many girls left their studies after 12th.
But GDC Thindim Kreeri changed everything. It brought higher education to our doorstep. It saved our time, money and our dreams. Now the same girl from a small village lives in her home, wears NCC uniform, participates in debate competition and says with confidence “I can also become something in life.” This is the real success of this college. This is not just a degree, this is a future for our whole area.
Small Building, Big Dreams:
The most inspiring story of our college is its courage. We all know that we don’t have our own big campus building yet. Our college is still running in the hostel building of Government Higher Secondary School Kreeri. We have limited classrooms and limited space.
When I first came to this college for admission, I also thought, how will we study in such a small building? But after spending some time here, my thinking changed. I feel proud to be a part of this struggle. Our professors have proved that for good education we don’t need AC rooms, we need passion. Despite less space, we have NSS camps, NCC activities, sports day, seminars, and plantation drives.
Our Respected Principal Ma’am – The Pillar of Our College:
The heart and soul of GDC Thindim Kreeri is our respected Principal Ma’am. She is not just a principal, she is like a mother to all of us. From early morning till late evening, she works so hard for our college. Even though we are in a small building, she never lets us feel any shortage. She knows every student by face and name. If any student has any problem, she listens calmly and solves it. Her dedication and love for students is what makes our college special. We are really lucky to have a principal like her.
Our Staff is Like a Family:
The best thing about our college is its staff. I have personally felt this. All staff members are very good, kind and supportive. From our Principal Ma’am to all professors and non-teaching staff, everyone helps the students wholeheartedly. If any student has any problem related to admission or exams, they always support us. It feels like a family, not just a college.
In The End:
GDC Thindim Kreeri gives a strong message to everyone who says “we don’t have resources”. It says – “If your intention is strong, even a small hostel can become a university.”
It doesn’t just write our name on the attendance register, it writes our future.
As a student, I can proudly say that I love my college so much, along with our respected Principal Ma’am, all my professors and the entire staff who always help us. For me, GDC Thindim Kreeri is not just a college, it is my pride, my identity and my second home.
