ANANTNAG: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat on Wednesday reviewed the progress of macadamisation works and heritage conservation projects in the district, directing officials to expedite execution and ensure timely completion of targets.
At a review meeting on road works, officials informed the DDC that 14.3 kilometres had been macadamised against a target of about 73 kilometres. According to officials, the slow pace of work was mainly due to shortages of bitumen and other key construction materials.
Taking note of the progress, Bhat directed concerned departments to accelerate execution and ensure uninterrupted work. He asked the District Mineral Officer to facilitate the availability of required construction materials for macadamisation plants in accordance with prescribed norms.
The DDC also stressed coordination among departments to ensure completion of the entire 73-km target within the stipulated timeframe.
In a separate meeting, Bhat reviewed the implementation of projects under the Scheme for Revival, Restoration, Preservation and Maintenance of Architecture and Heritage (RRP&MAH).
Officials said 40 projects have been taken up under Phase III of the scheme at religious and heritage sites, including Aishmuqam, Mattan, Thajiwara Bijbehara, Khiram and Nagdandi Achabal.
During the review, the DDC directed officials to resolve bottlenecks affecting the execution of heritage conservation works and ensure adherence to project timelines. He also called for regular monitoring and maintenance of quality standards in restoration works.
The meetings were attended by senior officials from the Public Works Department, planning and municipal departments, along with executive officers of various municipal committees and local bodies.
