SRINAGAR: Several political activists and local leaders from Kupwara’s Trehgam constituency, including some associated with the National Conference (NC), joined the Apni Party on Monday.
The joining took place during an event at the party headquarters in Srinagar, where Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and other senior leaders welcomed the new entrants.
According to the party, those who joined included NC Halka President for Marhama in Trehgam constituency Wali Mohammad Mir, senior NC workers Najmu Saqib, Ashiq Hussain Pir, Mansoor Ahmad Waza and Nisar Ahmad Shiekh, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Apni Party leaders said they hoped the induction of the new members would strengthen the party’s organisational base in the constituency.
Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir, District President Budgam Advocate Owais Ashraf Shah, Vice President District Kupwara and Trehgam constituency in-charge Dr Noor-ud-din Shah, District Secretary Kupwara Syed Javaid Geelani, Ward President Natipora Arjumand Makhdoomi and Youth Wing Zonal President for Trehgam Waseem Sajad were among those present at the event.
