SKUAST-K celebrates Graduation Day at Shalimar campus

Srinagar: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) on Thursday held its Graduation Day ceremony for the undergraduate batch of 2022 from the Faculty of Horticulture and the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology at the Shalimar Convention Centre.

Vice Chancellor Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai attended the ceremony as the chief guest.

The programme began with the donning of ceremonial robes and an academic procession led by UG Coordinator Dr Aziz Mujtaba, with participation from university officers and divisional heads.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Ganai congratulated the graduating students and highlighted their contribution to the university’s innovation ecosystem. He said a majority of the university’s recent patents and emerging startups had been spearheaded by graduating students.

The Vice Chancellor noted that SKUAST-K has expanded its academic standards and course offerings to meet evolving global requirements. Emphasising the role of higher education in society, he said the true measure of a university lies in producing skilled and empowered graduates capable of becoming self-reliant and developing sustainable solutions to contemporary challenges.

He urged the graduates to build resilience, embrace self-reliance and adapt to changing professional and technological environments.

Earlier, Director Extension and Dean, Faculty of Horticulture, Prof Raihana Habib Kanth delivered the welcome address.

During the ceremony, provisional degree certificates were awarded to the graduating students. The programme also featured the signing of academic scrolls, an oath-taking ceremony and a student valedictory address.
