KULGAM: MLA Kulgam Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami on Wednesday inaugurated the U-19 inter-district boys’ baseball tournament at Lance Naik Shri Nazir Ahmad Wani Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Kulgam.
The tournament is being hosted by the Youth Services and Sports Department, Kulgam, under the supervision of the Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, Kashmir, with teams from all districts of the Kashmir Valley participating.
Addressing the gathering, Tarigami encouraged young people to take part in sports and highlighted the role of physical activity in promoting health and well-being. He said regular participation in sports and physical exercise helps maintain fitness and can contribute to reducing stress.
Officials said eight matches were played on the opening day of the tournament, with teams from different districts competing in the event.
The inaugural function was attended by sports enthusiasts, local residents, officials, sportspersons and former District Development Council chairperson Kulgam, among others.
