BARAMULLA: Presentation Convent School, Srinagar, and Netherfield School, Sopore, emerged champions in the girls’ and boys’ categories respectively as the Rev. Fr. C.B. Simons Memorial Football Tournament concluded at St. Joseph’s School Ground in Baramulla on Wednesday.
Presentation Convent lifted the Under-15 Girls title, while Netherfield School secured the Under-15 Boys championship in the finals played on the concluding day of the tournament.
Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Baramulla Pranjal J. Hazarika attended the closing ceremony as chief guest and distributed trophies and prizes among the winning teams.
Addressing the gathering, Hazarika congratulated the players and appreciated the organisers for promoting football and providing a competitive platform for young athletes.
The event also featured a drill and band display by students of St. Joseph’s School.
Representatives of participating schools, school authorities, sponsors, teachers, students and sportspersons attended the closing ceremony.
Organisers said the tournament aimed to promote football among students while encouraging teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.
