SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), District Srinagar, in collaboration with Amar Singh College Srinagar, on Tuesday organised Startup Idea Challenge 2.0 under the J&K Startup Policy 2024-27, providing a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase innovative business ideas.
The programme witnessed participation from students and young entrepreneurs representing Amar Singh College, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Kashmir (SKUAST-K), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Central University of Kashmir and Kashmir University’s Zakura Campus.
Participants presented their startup ideas before an expert panel, highlighting innovation and entrepreneurship across different sectors.
Principal of Amar Singh College, Prof. (Dr.) Tehmina Yousuf, who was the chief guest on the occasion, appreciated the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of the participants and encouraged them to pursue innovation-driven ventures.
Addressing the participants, JKEDI faculty member Dr. Naila Khanday and District Officer Srinagar, Shabir Hussain Shah, underscored the importance of innovation and creativity in promoting entrepreneurship at the grassroots level.
The expert panel comprised Dr. Naila Khanday, Shabir Hussain Shah, Head of the Department of Commerce, Amar Singh College, Prof. Mohammad Altaf, Assistant Professor Shahzad Ahmad Bhat, Senior Executive Manager, J&K Bank, Tabish Shah, Communication Associate JKEDI Nazia Shafi and members of the JKEDI District Centre Srinagar.
During the programme, Shabir Hussain Shah briefed participants about the key features of the J&K Startup Policy 2024-27 and various support mechanisms available through JKEDI, including mentorship, incubation, seed funding assistance and co-working facilities.
Officials said the initiative aims to encourage innovation among youth and help budding entrepreneurs transform their ideas into sustainable business ventures.
