The programme was jointly organised by the Tea Board of India and the Agriculture Department, Kashmir, and was inaugurated by Director Agriculture Kashmir Sartaj Ahmad Shah.

The event was attended by Joint Director Extension Kashmir Mujtaba Yehya, representatives of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), tea stakeholders and officials of the Tea Board of India.

According to officials, discussions focused on promoting Kashmiri kehwa through coordinated efforts between the Tea Board of India and the Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department, Kashmir, with the aim of increasing its visibility and market reach at the national and international levels.

Speaking at the workshop, Shah said the initiative could create new opportunities for local entrepreneurs, producers and traders associated with the kehwa trade. He noted that the beverage’s growing popularity and perceived health benefits offered potential for expansion into wider markets.

He said the Agriculture Department would continue efforts to support local entrepreneurs by facilitating marketing linkages and promoting products with export potential.
