Srinagar: Police in Anantnag and Kulgam districts have arrested four drug peddlers in three separate operations and recovered contraband from their possession.
In the first operation, a police spokesperson said, two persons — Ubaid Rashid Dar of Waghama, and Javaid Ahmad Parray of Jablipora – were arrested. During their search, 4.49 grams of brown sugar was recovered from their possession. In this connection, FIR No. 259/2026 has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara, and investigation has been initiated.
In another operation, police during routine checking near Batapora Bridge, apprehended Shahid Maqsood Khuroo of Guri Kharipora Anantnag, after cannabis was recovered from his possession.
In Kulgam, police arrested another drug peddler, Rouf Ahmad Dar of Gund Tankipora, during naka checking at Sopat near Ziyarat Sharif Link Road after 746 grams of “charas-like” substance was recovered from his possession.
Cases have been registered in concerned police stations for further investigation, police spokesperson said.
