SRINAGAR: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Thursday launched an online waste bin booking service, allowing residents to request waste bins through a digital platform without visiting municipal offices.
The service was launched by SMC Commissioner Faz Lul Haseeb in the presence of Joint Commissioner Suhail Ul Islam.
According to officials, the facility enables citizens to submit requests online by providing details such as location and contact information through the official SMC website. The system is expected to streamline the process of waste bin allocation and help the civic body maintain digital records of requests, track their status and improve deployment of resources and field staff.
Speaking at the launch, the Commissioner said the initiative was aimed at improving access to civic services through technology and enhancing efficiency and transparency in service delivery.
Officials said the online platform forms part of SMC’s broader efforts to expand digital governance and strengthen sanitation and solid waste management services in the city.
The Commissioner directed concerned officers and field staff to ensure timely implementation of the service and called for wider public awareness to encourage residents to use the facility.
SMC officials said the initiative is expected to improve citizen participation and support more efficient management of sanitation services across Srinagar.
