BANDIPORA, Sept 10: The District Level Committee on Change of Land Use (CLU) in Bandipora on Thursday approved one application, rejected two and kept five others under revision after reviewing pending cases under the Jammu & Kashmir Agricultural Land (Conversion for Non-Agricultural Purposes) Regulations Act, 2022.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Indu Kanwal Chib at the Mini Secretariat, examined eight pending cases for conversion of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes.
Officials said the committee approved one case after finding it compliant with statutory requirements, while two applications were rejected for failing to meet the prescribed criteria. Five cases were kept under revision pending further field verification.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Jal Shakti Department and the Power Development Department to conduct on-ground verification of the cases kept under revision and assess the availability of essential services at the proposed sites.
She asked the departments to examine the feasibility of providing basic utilities, particularly water supply and electricity, before any decision is taken on the pending applications.
Chib stressed that conversion of agricultural land should be carried out strictly in accordance with legal provisions and without placing undue pressure on existing utility infrastructure. She directed the concerned departments to submit factual field reports at the earliest to facilitate timely disposal of the cases.
The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department Circle Bandipora, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shabir Ahmad Wani, Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Sumbal and Gurez, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, executive engineers of various departments, District Officer of the Pollution Control Committee, Chief Town Planner, tehsildars and other officials.
