KATHUA: The Inter-District Division Level Girls Kho-Kho Tournament 2026 commenced in Kathua on Monday with teams from across Jammu division participating in the Under-17 competition.
The tournament was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma at Trikuta Palace, Dayala Chack. The event has been organised by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir.
Under-17 teams from Samba, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri, Doda, Jammu, Kishtwar, Kathua, Poonch and Ramban are participating in the tournament along with physical education teachers and departmental officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said sporting events provide young athletes with opportunities to gain exposure and showcase their talent. He also highlighted the role of sports in promoting discipline, teamwork, leadership and physical fitness among students.
Earlier, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Sunil Kumar welcomed the chief guest, participants and accompanying officials.
The inaugural programme also featured the tournament pledge, with players and officials committing themselves to fair play, discipline and sportsmanship during the competition.
