Anantnag: Minister for Social Welfare, Education and Health Sakeena Itoo on Friday visited the Zaiba Aapa Institute of Inclusive Education in Bijbehara and reviewed the educational, therapeutic and rehabilitation services being provided to children and persons with disabilities.
During the visit, the minister inspected various facilities at the institute, including classrooms, intervention centres, physiotherapy units and rehabilitation services. She also interacted with staff members and reviewed programmes aimed at the education and empowerment of persons with disabilities.
Itoo was accompanied by MLA Bijbehara Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri, Mission Director Poshan, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer and other district officers.
According to officials, the minister expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the institute and appreciated its efforts towards education, rehabilitation and care of children and persons with disabilities.
She assured the institute’s management of government support and directed concerned district officers to maintain coordination with the Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline to strengthen services and institutional support for persons with disabilities.
During the visit, the institute’s founder and chairman, Javed Ahmad Tak, briefed the minister about its activities and initiatives. He also highlighted issues related to the rights, welfare and social inclusion of persons with disabilities, officials said.
The visit comes amid efforts to strengthen support systems and improve access to educational and rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities in the district.
