BARAMULLA: Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Department, Javid Ahmad Dar, on Thursday laid foundation stones for several development projects in Rafiabad with a cumulative sanctioned cost of Rs 3.29 crore.
The projects cover education, healthcare, public amenities and recreational infrastructure and are aimed at improving facilities and services in the area.
At Nowpora (Tujer Sharief), Dar laid the foundation stone for a children’s park to be developed by the Public Works (Roads and Buildings) Division Sopore at a cost of Rs 80 lakh.
At Bomai, the minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Computer laboratories along with an additional classroom room (ACR) at Boys Secondary School Bomai under the Samagra Shiksha scheme. The project, to be executed by the Public Works Department, has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 1.44 crore.
He also laid the foundation stone for a mini super bazar at Bomai Zaingeer, sanctioned at a cost of Rs 55 lakh. The facility is intended to strengthen local market infrastructure and improve access to essential commodities for residents.
In the healthcare sector, Dar laid the foundation stone for a health sub-centre at Goripora, Darapora, with a sanctioned cost of Rs 50 lakh. The facility is expected to improve access to primary healthcare services in the area.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said the government was focusing on strengthening infrastructure in rural areas, particularly in sectors such as education, healthcare, recreation and public amenities. He directed the executing agencies to adhere to prescribed quality standards, timelines and financial norms while implementing the projects.
Dar also stressed the need for regular monitoring of works and coordination among departments to ensure timely completion of the projects and effective utilisation of resources.
