SRINAGAR: An unidentified woman was found dead after being retrieved from the River Jhelum near the Nawa Kadal area of Srinagar on Friday, officials said.
According to officials, the woman was taken out of the river and shifted to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Her identity could not be immediately established, while the circumstances surrounding her death were yet to be ascertained.
Officials said the body has been kept for identification and completion of legal formalities.
Further proceedings in the case have been initiated. (KNT)
