BARAMULLA: Security forces recovered two hand grenades from a man during a naka checking operation in the Kunzer area of Baramulla district on Thursday, officials said.
According to officials, the checking was being carried out at Wussan Bangil by a joint team comprising personnel of Police Station Kunzer, Special Operations Group (SOG) Kunzer, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 176 Battalion and the Army’s 2 Rashtriya Rifles.
During the operation, a man allegedly attempted to flee after noticing the security personnel but was apprehended on the spot, officials said.
The suspect was identified as Shakir Nabi Lone, a resident of Hardu Aboora in Kunzer.
Officials said two hand grenades were allegedly recovered during his personal search.
Following the recovery, a case under FIR No. 115/2026 has been registered at Police Station Kunzer under relevant provisions of law.
Further investigation is underway, officials added.
