ANANTNAG: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, on Friday visited the Prachin Shiv Temple at Thajiwara in Bijbehara on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and reviewed arrangements made for devotees attending the celebrations.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Tariq Ahmad Malik, the Tehsildar and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bijbehara, officers from various departments and representatives of the temple management.
A large number of devotees visited the temple to offer prayers and participate in religious rituals associated with the festival. During the visit, women devotees tied rakhis to the Deputy Commissioner and other officers as part of the celebrations.
Interacting with devotees, Dr Bhat extended greetings on the occasion and said festivals such as Raksha Bandhan help strengthen social bonds and communal harmony. He also highlighted the cultural and historical significance of the temple.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed arrangements at the shrine and directed concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, sanitation, traffic management and medical facilities for devotees.
He also instructed officials to maintain close coordination with temple authorities, address any issues promptly and ensure that all services remain functional throughout the celebrations.
Dr Bhat further directed the executing agency to expedite ongoing repair and renovation works at the temple.
Devotees appreciated the arrangements made by the district administration for the smooth conduct of the festival.
