Srinagar: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo on Monday reviewed arrangements at Hazratbal Shrine ahead of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) and the Friday following, directing all departments to ensure adequate facilities for the large number of devotees expected to visit the shrine.
During an on-site inspection and review meeting, the Deputy Commissioner assessed preparations related to drinking water supply, electricity, sanitation, traffic management, parking, transportation, healthcare, fire safety, security and other essential services, officials said.
Labroo directed the concerned departments to complete all arrangements well in advance and stressed the need for coordination among civil administration, police, traffic, health and municipal authorities for smooth management of the congregation.
He instructed agencies to implement a comprehensive traffic management plan, ensure adequate parking facilities and regulate vehicular movement around the shrine. The Transport Department was asked to arrange e-rickshaw services from designated parking areas to the shrine for senior citizens and specially-abled devotees.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the Health Department to deploy medical teams, ambulances, first-aid facilities and essential medicines to respond to any emergency during the observance.
Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) was asked to maintain sanitation and cleanliness within the shrine premises and adjoining areas, besides deploying adequate manpower, machinery and mobile toilet units. Officials were instructed to pay special attention to cleanliness before, during and after the event.
Labroo also reviewed security and fire safety arrangements and directed the concerned agencies to remain prepared for any eventuality.
During the visit, he inspected the parking area near the shrine and reviewed ongoing works aimed at increasing parking capacity for devotees.
The review meeting was attended by Vice Chairman Lakes Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioner Aadil Fareed, Joint Commissioner SMC Nuzhat Qureshi, senior police officers and officials from various departments.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).
