The programme aimed to create awareness about the recently introduced Act and witnessed participation from students of EJM College and various schools across Leh district.

Addressing the gathering, Iqbal said such programmes help take government schemes to the people and create awareness about welfare initiatives. He said students can play an important role in spreading awareness about development programmes.

Highlighting key features of the Act, he said poverty alleviation and livelihood generation are among its major objectives. He added that the Act increases the number of workdays from 100 to 125 and seeks to extend benefits to a larger section of the rural population.

The programme also featured expert lectures by resource persons on various aspects of the Act. Panchayat Inspector Kharu Block, Tashi Paljor, spoke on the need for such legislation, while Panchayat Inspector Leh Block, Tsewang Dorjay, briefed participants on its implementation in Ladakh.

Students also delivered speeches on themes related to the programme. An open quiz competition was held, and winners were felicitated at the conclusion of the event.
