Shopian: The Inter-District Divisional-Level Table Tennis Competition for U-17 boys began at the Indoor Complex, Arhama, Shopian, on Saturday.
Organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, the tournament follows the conclusion of the U-14 boys’ table tennis competition held at the same venue.
The championship was inaugurated by District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Shopian, Mohammad Ayoub Bhat, who interacted with participants from all 10 districts of Kashmir division.
Addressing the players, Bhat urged them to compete with discipline, dedication and sportsmanship, and encouraged them to use the tournament as an opportunity to showcase their talent.
The competition provides a platform for young table tennis players to gain competitive exposure and interact with fellow athletes from across the Valley.
Officials said the event reflects the department’s efforts to promote sports and nurture emerging talent in the region.
