RAMBAN: A 24-year-old woman was killed and another injured after a scooty was allegedly hit by an unidentified tanker on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district on Friday.
Officials said the accident occurred in the Seri area when a tanker travelling from Srinagar towards Jammu reportedly struck the two-wheeler after the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Both women were shifted to District Hospital Ramban, where the scooty rider, Shakeela Banoo (24), wife of Sameer Tantary and a resident of Boli Bazar, Ramban, was declared brought dead.
The injured pillion rider was identified as Rafiya Farooq (26), daughter of Farooq Ahmad Wani and a resident of Kundi Karol. She is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Police have registered a case and launched efforts to trace the tanker and identify its driver. (KNO)
