Leh: Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Saturday launched ‘Zhabstok Ladakh’, the Union Territory’s official Youth Internship Portal aimed at providing young people an opportunity to work with government departments and participate in the development process.
The portal will facilitate applications for internships across 25 departments of the Ladakh administration through a single platform.
According to officials, the LG Yuva Internship Programme will commence on September 17. Registration will remain open from August 22 to September 5, followed by document verification from September 6 to 14.
A total of 2,000 youth will be selected for the three-month internship programme. Selected candidates will receive an honorarium of ₹5,000 per month, while the best-performing interns may be granted a three-month extension.
Officials said interns will be attached to different departments based on their skills and interests, enabling them to gain exposure to public administration, governance processes and implementation of government programmes.
At the end of the internship, participants will receive certificates that can support their academic and professional profiles.
Speaking at the launch, Saxena said the initiative seeks to create a structured mechanism for youth participation in governance and community development. He said Ladakh’s young population represents a significant resource for the region’s future development.
