Baramulla: Inter-Zonal District-Level Competitions and Selection Trials continued across Baramulla on Wednesday, with hundreds of young athletes participating in various events organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS).
Cricket selection trials for Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 girls were held at Showkat Ali Stadium, Khawaja Bagh, attracting a large number of participants.
Taekwondo selection trials for Under-19 boys were conducted at the Indoor Stadium, Khawaja Bagh, where over 50 athletes showcased their skills. Competitions for Under-14 and Under-17 girls were also held at Bipin Rawat Indoor Stadium, with more than 50 students taking part.
DYSSO Baramulla Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori said such events provide young sportspersons with opportunities to display their talent, gain competitive exposure and prepare for higher-level competitions. He appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants and the efforts of officials in ensuring the smooth conduct of the trials.
The department reiterated its commitment to promoting sports and nurturing talent at the grassroots level.
