JAMMU: Labour Commissioner J&K Charandeep Singh on Tuesday reviewed the functioning of the Labour Department in Jammu division and directed officers to adopt a time-bound, target-oriented approach for improving implementation of key programmes and service delivery.

During the meeting, attended by the Deputy Labour Commissioner and Assistant Labour Commissioners, the Commissioner reviewed progress under Labour Codes, the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PMSYM) scheme, grievance redressal mechanisms, pending quasi-judicial and court cases, and services delivered under the Public Services Guarantee Act.

He asked officers to intensify awareness campaigns on Labour Codes, prepare structured work plans for monitoring targets and strengthen capacity-building initiatives for field staff.

Reviewing PMSYM enrolment, Singh directed field officers to formulate strategies for achieving prescribed targets and ensure that eligible workers benefit from the scheme through sustained outreach and facilitation efforts.

The Commissioner also stressed prompt disposal of grievances received through online and offline platforms, including SAMADHAN, and called for strict adherence to timelines under the Public Services Guarantee Act.

Expressing concern over long-pending cases, he directed officers to prioritise the disposal of quasi-judicial and court matters pending for several years through focused monitoring and follow-up.

He urged all officers to ensure strict compliance with departmental directions and work towards improving overall performance and public service delivery.
