Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved ₹10 crore for the repair and restoration of the historic Rattan Garh Fort in Bhaderwah, Doda district, as part of efforts to preserve heritage sites and promote tourism.
According to officials, the project will focus on conserving the fort’s architectural and historical features, improving its condition and developing it as a heritage tourism destination in the Chenab Valley.
The restoration is expected to enhance visitor facilities while protecting the historical character of the structure. Officials said the project is part of the government’s broader initiative to preserve Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural and architectural heritage.
Rattan Garh Fort is one of the prominent historical landmarks of Bhaderwah, an area known for its cultural traditions, historic architecture and scenic landscape. Officials said the restoration is expected to strengthen Bhaderwah’s tourism circuit and support local economic activity.
The government has recently approved several projects for the conservation and development of heritage assets across Jammu and Kashmir, with a focus on restoring historically significant structures and integrating them into the tourism sector.
