BARAMULLA: A residential house was destroyed after a suspected LPG cylinder leak triggered a powerful explosion and fire in Pheliharan village of Sheeri-Narvaw in Baramulla district on Wednesday. No casualties or injuries were reported.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel brought the blaze under control before it spread to adjoining houses, though the structure was completely gutted. Police have launched an investigation, with preliminary findings pointing to a gas leak as the likely cause.
The incident has revived residents’ demand for a fire station in Sheeri. Locals said over 30 villages in Narvaw depend on fire stations in Baramulla and Uri, leading to delayed response during emergencies. Authorities have urged people to follow LPG safety precautions and regularly inspect gas connections.
